He was Syeikh Abd as-Shamad ibn Abdurrahman al-Palimbani. He was sayyid (offspring from Sanaa, Yemen) and was born 1116 H/ 1704 at Palembang, Sumatera. He was died in Haramain at 1203 H/1789 after completing his opus named by Hidayat al-Salikin. His opus are Nashihah al-Muslimin wa Tadzkirah al-Mu’minin fi Fadhail al-Jihad fi Sabilillah wa Karamah al-Mujahidin fi Sabilillah, Zuhrah al-Murid fi Bayan Kalimah al-Tauhid, Tuhfah al-Raghibin fi Bayan Haqiqah Iman al-Mu’minin wa Ma Yufsiduh fi Riddah al-Murtaddin, al-Urwah al-Wutsqa wa Silsilah uli al-Tuqa, Ratib Abd al-Shamad, Zad al-Muttaqin fi Tauhid Rabb ‘Alamin, Sayr al-Salikin ila Rabb al-Alamin. His study was started from his father, Syeikh Abd al-Rahman, a qadhi from Palembang in Kedah Sultanate. He is Syaikh Abdur Rauf bin Ali al-Fansuri al-Sinkili. He was born at 1024 H/1615. His father is Arabic comer that get married with woman from Fansur (Barus). It is a central port in West Sumatera and produce champor. Al-Sinkili for the first time study about religion to Sinkil teacher, especially to his father. After that, he make several journeys to Qatar, Yemen, Jeddah, and Haramain. During 19 years, he studies religion in Hijaz and has many teachers such as Syeikh Abdul Qadir Mawrir, Syeikh Abdullah ibn Jam’an, Syeikh Ishaq ibn Jam’an, Syeikh Ahmad al-Qusyasyi, Syeikh Ibrahim al-Kurani, and Syeikh Abdul Qadir al-Barkhali.
